What a beautiful Corpus Christi day we enjoyed last Sunday! I must thank God first for the wonderful weather and for the successful outcome of the procession and festival; but I also have to thank everyone who participated in some way in the day’s events.

The 10:30 AM Mass was beautifully and reverently solemn, and I must thank Peter Lee and Emily Doan for providing the music. Jake Stoeffler did a wonderful job as Master of Ceremonies conducting fifteen altar boys during the Mass and Procession. The altar boys did exceptionally well, stoically enduring 90 F weather as they processed with their cassocks and surplices. Not one complained.

I would also like to thank everyone who accompanied the Blessed Sacrament in the procession. It was very moving to see over 200 people praying the rosary and singing hymns as we lived those words from Our Lord: “You are salt of the earth and light of the world.”

The festival was a lot of fun and I was very happy to see that it was very well attended. There were people of all ages having a wonderful time. It was like a “Catholic theme park” for the kids. Thank you to Kathy Kenney for setting up most of the games. Of the parish groups that helped, I must thank first my brother Knights of Columbus. They did a great job with the food tent. From the very beginning of the planning process to the clean-up, they were the first ones volunteering. Good job! The Foresters were also actively involved in the planning process and the general supervision of the entire event. Thank you for your work and generosity. Many of our youth were also involved: whether it was supervising the games, serving food, setting up, cleaning up, helping in the procession... thank you to all who donated time and talents. I would also like to thank the members of the Altar Sodality who participated in the event.

It was wonderful to see all the different parish groups working together on a common goal and putting all their enthusiasm into making it such a successful event. We have raised over $5,500 and we all had lots of fun doing it!

I wish I could name everyone who participated, but I would need extra pages that I don’t have (yet). To all of you who were involved in one way or another: thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I would like to thank everyone who donated items for the auction and garage-sale, pies, cakes, ice-cream, soda, food, etc. Thank you for your generosity.

Finally, I would like to thank all who attended. I hope you had as much fun as I did. Be sure to check out the festival photos on the website. You will find them in the galleries section.

God bless all our dads on this Father’s Day weekend,

Fr. Miguel
