For those of you who were not able to attend May Crowning last weekend, you missed a beautiful ceremony. The kids reverently honored our Blessed Mother in a very touching ceremony. Thank you to the children who participated in the May Crowning ceremony. Thank you also to Alisha Friederick and Kevin Koester for the beautiful music they provided for the ceremony and Mass. Thank you to Shirley Devlin of Hometown Florist for the radiant flowers that surrounded the statue of Mary.

Each one of us can honor our Blessed Mother in a special way this month. For us it should not be a month like any other. Let us find special ways to show our love to Mary during the month of May: by praying the rosary every day, by offering some fresh flowers to her statue in the church, by saying the Angelus every day at noon, or by reading a book dedicated to her. I am sure you can come up with other great ideas. Remember: she is our mother too. This weekend we honor our mothers. Let us not forget our Mother in Heaven. She loves each one of us and listens to our prayers. Let us show her the same love we show our own mother on earth.

On another note, since we are already in the planting season, if anyone wants to call God’s blessing on his farm and fields, please call me at (608) 448-6061 or the office to arrange a visit. I will be delighted to visit your farm and bless it.

I wish all moms a very happy and blessed Mother Day weekend!

Altar of ReposeI am so grateful to God and to you for such beautiful Holy Week and Easter liturgies. I hope they helped you live and experience the mystery of Our Lord’s Passion, Death and Resurrection. Many of you have also expressed to me the joy and gratitude for these paschal celebrations. I want all of you to know that it was thanks to the time and the effort of a lot of people, that we were able to enjoy such beautiful and reverent liturgies. I will like to publicly recognize these people who do so much for our parish and who work many times “behind the scenes” seeking only God’s joy and glory.

This list is not in order of importance; each person played a very important role and I am equally grateful for everything that everyone did.

I want to thank Jeff Jackson for being everywhere and everything at the same time. Thanks for bringing those palms to St. Lawrence at a moment’s notice even if you had to listen to my sermon twice! A big thanks to Judy Lyness for the excellent job she does as a sacristan. Our Lord must really enjoy becoming present on our altar and sacred vessels since they are always so clean and polished. I am also especially grateful to Emily Blackbourn for directing the choir, and to all the singers: Kathy Loy, Amy Wells-Scanlan, Betty Smith, Jutta Stroebel, Margaret Sprague, Sandy Scanlan and Emily and Becca McBee. They did such a good job. I am amazed at the quality of their singing with such little practice. I was especially impressed on Good Friday in which they sang a cappella. A special thanks to Barb Mezera, LaVern Hrubes, and Kathy Carsten for playing the organ at the different Masses.
